A Timeless Black Tie Affair at Summerour: Megan + John

Megan and John’s July wedding at Summerour Studio couldn’t have been a more beautiful evening. The gentlemen wore black tuxes, and the ladies stunned in pale grey chiffon. The bride chose a palette of white, ivory, green, and gold (with just a subtle hint of barely there blush) for a timeless look. The formal black tie affair boasted a ceiling sparkling with gorgeous lighting and drapery swags. (When walking through the design plan, Megan couldn’t get enough of the fully draped ceiling photo we’d pulled for her!)

One of our favorite pieces of the day was Megan and John’s choice to say their vows together in private prior to the ceremony - how sweet is that?! It was clear throughout the process that these two were best friends first and foremost. A first look and this intimate moment was the perfect start to their day together, which was captured beautifully by Jill Doty Photography.

The bride’s love of paper goods and all things classic led us to work with Empress Stationery, and we couldn’t have been more ecstatic with how everything turned out. We ended up using Megan and John’s custom monogram they created throughout their wedding design. In addition to being seen on the invitation suite, the monogram was also embroidered on the head table napkins. This is one of our favorite touches, as the couple is able to take them home and reuse for their own special life events. Additionally, we surprised Megan with the monogram hand illustrated by our dear friend Kate Turner, on a mirror from Crush Event Rentals. Doesn’t it look beautiful on the boxwood wall we picked for behind the bar? Oh, and we haven’t mentioned yet - it was actually an Espresso Bar!

After a seated dinner from Bold American Catering, the couple’s guests danced the night away with Atlanta Beat and enjoyed handcrafted beverages from the Espresso Bar. Such a unique touch. Who doesn’t love that extra boost of caffeine at the end of the night? I know, as planners, we sure do.

The star of the night, though? Besides the bride and groom (of course!), the florals from Tulip were jaw dropping. Flowers were so important to Megan, and we knew their team wouldn’t let us down. Our favorite details included the greenery and floral halo over the dance floor, and the stunning head table.

Thanks again to Megan and John for choosing us to be part of their special day. We loved every part of planning with you. Wishing you a joy filled first holiday season!
